EXTERIOR [function creates form]
This truck was never intended to be a show only, garage vehicle. While it would be maintained with that level of care, it was to be driven daily rain or shine. For this reason, the owner picked a white Z-71 Tahoe was the spring board toward perfection, and the base for the OFFROAD makeover.
[rolling]
17" wheels were a must, so we picked the Enkei RTS 6 in a 17x8.5 because of the long and straight spokes that make the wheel look larger than it really is. Because of a lack of availability of offroad style 17" tires we had to go with a 285/70r17 BFG Mud Terrain. An All Terrain tire would have been preferred, but it wasn't available. To clear this tire it was necessary to lift the front end using the Hill 4wd Leveling Kit. This kit gave us another 2" in the front, which eliminated the front end sag and gave us the needed clearance for this tire.
[lighting]
One of the first OEM products swapped for an superior aftermarket one

were the headlights. They were immediately replaced by a set of APC Projectors. A realy 8000k HID kit was also installed to enhance nightime visibility. This kit produces the brightest white/blue light using a higher frequency bulb powered by a Phillips ballast. The fog lamp bulbs were also repalced using an amber replacement bulb. The amber light is great for use during heavy fog or rain. The change from amber turn signals was purely cosmetic and offers no lighting or safety benefits, but it sure does clean up the front end of the truck!
[additions/deletions]
A Street Scene Speed Grill was added because billet grills are just far too common. To make the grill flow with the rest of the truck it was also powder coated black to match the wheels. The gold Chevy bowtie had to go, so it was painted white. This combination helps make the front grill look alot smoother and more stealth than before. All of the Chevy and Z-71 emblems were shaved, with the exception of the rear tailgate emblem.
